The Swing Kings Big Dance Band
Organized in 1986 by its leader, Harry Kannasto, a retired music educator, The Swing Kings Big Dance Band is well into its 20th year performing for benefit balls, wedding receptions, and public and private dances throughout southern Oregon. The band plays a large repertory of jazz, swing, and popular music appropriate for ballroom dancing.
Most of the performers are from the Southern Oregon Concert Band, and include:
Vocalist: Leona Mitchell
Saxophones and Clarinets: Frank Brugman, Earl McGonigal, Ed Wight, Frank
Hunnicutt, and Richard Straub
Trumpets: Harry Kannasto, Nelson Hickling, Jack Amick and Ron Crouse
Trombones: Tim McCartney, Randy Hugdahl, Ken Loftus, and Dave Hoxie
Rhythm: Craig Mather; Piano: Robin Lawson; and Bass Guitar: Bill Jacoby
