The Sauerkrauts German Band
Though you might guess from the picture below that the German word, Gemulicheit, means cute knees, it really means “a lusty, happy, pleasant state of contentment and well-being.” SOCB’s Sauerkrauts German Band provides lusty, happy music that generates Gemulicheit whenever they play and they have been providing Gemulich music from San Francisco to Seattle since 1961.
The folk songs and dances played by the Sauerkrauts comes from the music houses of Bavaria, and the leather pants worn by the band are authentic lederhosen from Munich. Trumpet virtuoso, Harry Kannasto, directs the group and Hans Lindner is the vocalist and story teller. Hans hails from Munich, Germany and is the Band's chief interpreter of things German.
If you are interested in having the Sauerkrauts play for your public or private affair, contact Harry Kannasto (541) 482-3658 or Tim McCartney (541) 488-5276. The band charges a modest fee for performances that goes to help support the Southern Oregon Concert Band.
